ENSEMBLE – Food, Art & Community Dinner

“What can art mean for food?”
To mark the opening night of the pilot edition of EDIBLE: Food + Design Confluence in Antwerp, the International Center for Food Design (i-fooddesign) presents ENSEMBLE – Food, Art & Community Dinner on Wednesday, 14 October from 18:00 onwards at Lucy’s, Paleisstraat 41, 2018 Antwerp. The event is made possible with the support of the District of Antwerp.
ENSEMBLE is a shared dining experience exploring how food can function as a universal language—connecting people across cultures, generations and lived experiences through art, storytelling and the act of eating together.
The evening begins with BELONGING, a participatory artwork designed by Vishwa Patel (UAE/IT). Guests are invited to contribute their own recipes, memories and reflections, collectively exploring food, cultural diversity and community in Antwerp.
This is followed by an interactive Food ART Gallery designed by Raluca Blaga (RO/JP), before guests gather around the table for a shared meal featuring edible and thought-provoking projects by Marinella Protopapa (IT), Clarisse Floch (FR), Kristina Breznik (SI) and Tanushree Kulkarni (USA/IN).
Through food, art, film and conversation, ENSEMBLE transforms dinner into a participatory cultural and educational experience. Each edible project becomes a starting point for exchanging perspectives and reflecting on the relationships between food, creativity, culture, society and the future of our food systems.
More than simply sharing a meal, ENSEMBLE asks what can happen when different stories, cultures and experiences are given a place at the same table.
Participation is offered on a pay-what-you-can basis, helping to keep the experience as inclusive and accessible as possible. Those who wish to contribute can help support the organisational costs and future development of the ENSEMBLE initiative.
